Curiosities: Marion Lucy Mahony Griffin was born in the United States in 1871. Throughout her career, she worked in her home country, where she also graduated, and in India and Australia. .
. She established a number of partnerships in the development of projects, the most recognized ones conducted with the architects Frank Lloyd Wright and Walter Burley Griffin, who was also her husband. With the first one, she developed the furniture of various designs, including stained glass, mosaics and decorative panels. With her husband, she worked in town planning from the field, was co-author and illustrator of the project of the city of Canberra, Australia. Besides architect, Marion was horticulturist, graphic designer, painter and political activist. She was the second woman to graduate in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the first woman to be registered as an architect in the state of Illinois.
She contributed immensely to the disclosure and dissemination of architectural style of the Prairie, commonly attributed only to Frank Lloyd Wright. Marion made several residences in that style not only in the United States, where the movement was born, but also in India and Australia. She died in 1961.
"Her beautiful watercolor perspectives of both buildings as landscaping became known as one of the Wright style tags work, but the famous architect never gave her the credit for her drawings. A century later would be known as one of the largest architectural designers, but during her life, her talent was seen only as an extension of the work done by the men in the office.
