Curiosities: The Italian Achillina Bo Bardi was born in 1914 and lived until 1992. She graduated in her country of origin, where she made some works. However, she spent most of her professional life in Brazil, coming to naturalize herself Brazilian. In this country, she developed a series of projects covering the most different types. She developed a recovery plan for the historic center of Salvador and other urban proposals to São Paulo districts. She also worked with building projects, and the MASP (Art Museum of Sao Paulo) is the most known of them. Lina also explored other areas beyond architecture and urbanism. She was a teacher, writer, graphic, jewelry and furniture designer, magazine publisher, cinematographer, costumer designer and exhibition curator. Together with her husband, Pietro Maria Bardi, she created and directed the Industrial Design course at the Institute of Contemporary Art (IAC), where she taught at the great names of national art, such as the painter Lasar Segall, the landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx and the architect Rino Levi.In 1952, she promoted the first Parade of Brazilian Fashion fabrics specially developed for the local weather, which had patterns made by Sambonet artists, Burle Marx and Caribé. During this period, Lina joined the Italian Communist Party and participates in the resistance to the German occupation. Throughout her life, she participated and developed permeated projects of social concern, marked by the influence of Brazilian popular culture and the presence of dialogue between people and spaces.
